Holidaymakers travelling over to the island tend to take a forty minute flight from Tenerife North Airport. During the holiday season, flights leave daily from Tenerife as well as Gran Canaria and La Palma for El Hierro. For an alternative to flying, there is a good ferry service which departs a number of origins throughout the Canary Islands to Puerto de la Estaca. The airport is situated on the outskirts of Valverde, the island’s principal town. If considering El Hierro car hire, the airport is easily accessible from the Valverde to Puerto de la Estaca highway. Taxis are available from outside of the Arrivals Hall should you require them.
