Explore the Discovery Room at the Hancock Shaker Village

Those who come to the Hancock Shaker Village, located in Hancock, Massachusetts will find quite a few interesting things to see and do. This is the perfect place for those who are history buffs to take the time to visit. They will find a lot of places to explore. Kids can go to the old schoolhouse and even get a lesson from a Shaker teacher to see just how much different it was than the modern schools. Children will also have a great time in the Discovery Room, where they can build a chair, spin wool on a loom, and try out some other activities. In all, you will find twenty buildings on the grounds that you can visit, including the Brick Dwelling, Sisters’ Dairy, and Weave Loft. Each of the different areas served a different purpose, and each is decorated in authentic period furniture. Visitors can also see demonstrations from the blacksmith, woodworker, and more. In addition, guests can walk amidst the gardens on the grounds. You can see the herb gardens where the Shakers grew spices and medicinal herbs, as well as the vegetable garden. The barnyard is home to a variety of different farm animals that the kids will love.
