Family Home Evening

One unique thing about Mormon Doctrine is its strong focus on families and its commandment to all families to set aside one day of the week (generally Monday) to use as a family night. On this night, it is common for a lesson to be shared by one member of the family which teaches a gospel principle. There is also generally some kind of activity in which all family members can participate. This is a commandment because the strength of the family is key to its eternal well-being. Children need to be taught principles in the home by their parents if they will live them.
