I see there are currently lots of articles discussing proper hygiene to help prevent catching the swine flu. They did an item on the news recently showing that only abiout half of people in the UK are washing their hands thoroughly enough to get rid of all the bugs. And of course cleaning the hands properly is especially important after using a handkerchief or sneezing, apart from the usual after going to the toilet, preparing food and so on. The germs can stay on the hands for many hours, and they can then be passed on to others when shaking hands, or in fact when anyone else touches something that a carrier has also previously touched.
