Colorectal Cancer Chemotherapy Methods

In order to treat colorectal cancer, often colorectal cancer chemotherapy methods are used. In colorectal cancer chemotherapy, the affected area of the colon is given local chemotherapy, in order to help decrease the size of the tumor in the area.  In most cases, chemotherapy is used in conjunction with surgery and hence this type of therapy may be applied before the surgery to shrink the tumor (neoadjuvant therapy) or they can be applied after the surgery (adjuvant therapy), to make sure that no remaining cancer cells exist.  However, if diagnosis is made early, this treatment method can be very effective.
