There’s a lot to be said about using compasses versus using a GPS unit as far as following directions quickly and accurately are concerned. Old school navigators and explorers still prefer to use the compasses made by Suunto Australia because they feel that it is more accurate and you know exactly which direction is which, but you need to use it along with a map and plot your own routes.
A GPS, on the other hand, takes all that and makes it easier by devising the routes for you in addition to providing you with a map as well. You don’t have to determine which direction you’re at because it also tells you that as well. Convenient and easy a GPS is, but a compass challenges you better.
