I teach a course in marriage and the family at our local community college. While we discuss most of the aspects of marriage and family life in the class the one that my students seem to lack the most awareness of is family finances. We start out the class with each student ordering their free credit report. By the time we get to the financial section they have all received them and had an opportunity to study them. For many of them this is an eye opening experience. They have had not idea about the importance of keeping their credit scores healthy.
