Electrical discharge machining, simply called as Edm, is a machining method that is utilized in order to produce metal tools including dies, punches and a lot more. This is technically for shaping hard metals into the desired form or shape. This process usually works with electrically conductive materials although it can be used in machining and insulating ceramics. Through this process, patterns, shapes or cavities can be made in pre-hardened steel even without the assistance of heat treatment to soften or re-harden the metal. This type of method can be used in cutting different metals including titanium, kovar, inconel and hastelloy.
