A good credit score is both desirable and important to have. Tips to maintain your credit score include paying bills on time, not accumulating too much debt, paying off and closing excessive lines of credit, and having a good mix of types of financing on your credit report (credit cards, Auto Loans, etc). You have a legal right to obtain one free credit report a year from the three major credit reporting agencies. Take advantage of this. Look at your credit report for discrepancies and if you see something that does not look right, report it immediately. Credit reporting agencies have to investigate all claims of fraudulent activity.
